Lowe’s Commits $6 Million to Habitat for Humanity to Support Home Repair Projects
Habitat for Humanity International, a leading nonprofit organization focused on providing affordable housing, recently announced that it has received a substantial commitment of $6 million from Lowe’s, a renowned home improvement company. The generous contribution from Lowe’s will be utilized to support home repair and rehabilitation projects undertaken by local Habitat affiliates over the next two years.
As part of this partnership, Lowe’s will fund four grants specifically designed to address critical health and safety needs in owner-occupied homes. In the current year, a total of 75 local Habitat affiliates will benefit from this funding, enabling them to complete over 400 projects across the United States. These projects will include critical home repairs, home performance improvements, community revitalization efforts, and modifications to make homes safer for older homeowners.
The collaboration between Lowe’s and Habitat for Humanity has been ongoing, with a renewed focus on home repair and preservation efforts announced last year. In 2022 alone, Lowe’s support enabled 100 local Habitat affiliates to complete an impressive 680 projects. Through these efforts, 550 owner-occupied households received much-needed repairs and modifications, allowing them to safely age in place.

Expressing gratitude for the continued support, Tolli Love, Chief Development Officer at Habitat for Humanity International, stated, “We are thrilled to have the support of Lowe’s for another two years. A safe, decent, and affordable home can have a significant impact on a family’s health and well-being. Through our partnership with Lowe’s, we are furthering our commitment to building and improving homes where families can thrive, and communities can transform.”
In addition to the financial commitment, Lowe’s has pledged $100,000 to support Habitat’s Cost of Home national advocacy campaign. This campaign brings together local Habitat organizations, partners, volunteers, and community members to find solutions and create policies that will ensure access to affordable homes for 10 million individuals. Lowe’s will also support Habitat’s Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project, which will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina, from October 1 to October 6. As one of the Diamond Sponsors for the event, Lowe’s has committed $1 million to support the construction of 20 new homes. During the weeklong build event, future homeowners will work alongside Lowe’s red vest associates and hundreds of other volunteers from around the world.
Janice Dupré, Lowe’s Executive Vice President of Human Resources, highlighted the transformative power of home repairs and expressed Lowe’s commitment to making homes better for all. “Lowe’s is committed to making homes better for all, and we are grateful to Habitat for Humanity and all of our associate volunteers for their dedication to improving access to safe and affordable housing nationwide,” said Dupré.
The partnership between Lowe’s and Habitat for Humanity began in 2003 and has made a significant impact on the lives of thousands of people. Over the years, Lowe’s has committed nearly $90 million to support families in improving their living conditions. This support includes providing donated products to local Habitat affiliates and engaging associate volunteers across the country.
