Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and Burrell Aviation Partner to Build New Air Cargo Facility
CINCINNATI, May 16, 2023 – Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) has announced a partnership with Burrell Aviation Cincinnati, LLC to construct a state-of-the-art air cargo warehouse facility. The project, with a minimum capital investment of $20 million, aims to support the growing demand for cargo operations at the airport.
Last year, CVG made the decision to demolish outdated cargo facilities in order to make room for modern infrastructure that could efficiently handle cargo carriers and freight forwarders. Burrell Aviation, known for its development, operation, and investment in cutting-edge supply chain infrastructure, will now be collaborating with the airport to bring this project to life. The new facility will encompass approximately 4.5 acres of airport property and feature airside access.
The construction of the facility will span an area of 80,000 square feet and include offices, truck docks, and a parking lot. The northern part of CVG’s campus has been designated for this purpose. Both parties are working on an expedited timeline to ensure swift progress.
Founder and Executive Chairman of The Burrell Group, Dan Burrell, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to the expansion of CVG’s cargo operations. He commended the airport’s growth, under the leadership of Candace McGraw and her team, as one of the fastest-growing in the country.
CVG CEO Candace McGraw outlined the strategic plan to diversify cargo operations, highlighting the objective of expanding general cargo handling capacity. She expressed delight in partnering with Burrell Aviation on this flagship facility, foreseeing it as a catalyst for further cargo growth at CVG.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear acknowledged the significance of this investment by Burrell Aviation at CVG, emphasizing the state’s leadership in the air cargo industry. He expressed enthusiasm in collaborating with Burrell Aviation to ensure the success of this project.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine also extended a warm welcome to Burrell Aviation’s investment at CVG. He lauded the new facility’s potential to create job opportunities and elevate CVG’s status as one of the country’s premier airports.
