Red Wing Honors Safety Professionals
with “Thanks for Nothing” Program
Red Wing Shoe Company, a leading provider of safety gear for workers, has launched a new initiative to recognize the efforts of safety professionals who work tirelessly to keep job sites safe. On Occupational Safety and Health Professional Day, the company announced the launch of the “Thanks for Nothing” program, which invites workers to share their stories about safety professionals who have made a difference in their safety.
As part of the program, Red Wing Shoe Company is encouraging workers to share videos of their stories on social media using the hashtag #RedWingSafetyHeroes. The program aims to highlight the work of safety professionals who work behind the scenes to ensure that nothing unexpected happens on the job.
In recent years, major companies have raised the bar for safety, lowering the number of acceptable incidents to zero. This has led to significant declines in incidents and injuries over the years, with incidents declining by 75% over the last four decades, according to OSHA. Manufacturing fatalities have also dropped by 28% from 2003 to 2017, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Dave Schneider, Chief Marketing Officer at Red Wing Shoe Company, said that the work of safety professionals happens at the heart of every important industry we rely on each day, from manufacturing to construction to energy. He added that their critical work isn’t always recognized for its impact, and the initiative aims to champion the safety heroes who protect trades workers in their daily pursuit of zero incidents on the job.
